How to fix Alibaba Cloud not working

Alibaba Cloud is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

  1. Check the Alibaba Cloud status page

    Open the official status page first, because a fault in one zone or product can hit only your region while everything else runs. If it shows trouble, wait for the fix or move the workload to another region.

  2. Confirm the console region and account

    Sign out and sign back in, then check the region selector at the top of the console, since a bucket or instance in another region will look missing even when the service is healthy. Switch to the region that holds your resources. A RAM user without the right policy hits the same wall, so sign in as that user rather than the root account.

  3. Fix signature and clock errors

    An invalid signature or time skew message usually means your machine clock is off or the AccessKey is wrong. Sync the clock first. On Windows, open Settings > Time & Language > Date & time and turn on Set time automatically, and on macOS open System Settings > General > Date & Time; then confirm the AccessKey ID and secret on the AccessKey Management page match your profile, and that any STS token has not expired.

  4. Test another network and clear the browser

    If the console will not load at all, rule out your own connection. Turn off the VPN or proxy and clear the browser cache and cookies, because a local DNS resolver that blocks or misroutes the console domains causes the same blank page or timeout. Check the profile and region your CLI uses before you blame the service.

What happens when Alibaba Cloud goes down

Alibaba Cloud is a public cloud platform for compute, storage, databases, and networking. Companies in Asia and elsewhere run production apps on it, so an outage interrupts the console, API, hosted sites, and data jobs that depend on the service, which shows up as failed deployments, stalled workloads, broken automations, and unreachable pages.

Console and API timeouts hit first. You cannot start or resize an ECS instance, and deployment scripts that rely on the API may hang. When a region is affected, ECS instances and RDS databases lose connectivity; OSS uploads and CDN traffic fail too, even if the backend still runs. Regional outages are common, while global control plane problems are rare; a single failed service can leave your app up while backups and deployment pipelines break.

Is Alibaba Cloud down right now?

Why does the Alibaba Cloud console say my session expired?
Console sessions time out after a period of inactivity, and a blocked cookie or stale browser tab can make the login screen reappear. Clear the site cookies and sign in again, then check your device clock and time zone. If only one region tab fails while other pages load, focus on that browser session before blaming the service.

Can't connect to my ECS instance through SSH or the console?
Check the instance state first, because a stopped or rebooting ECS instance will refuse connections. A security group rule, VPC route, public IP, or key pair problem can block SSH even when the console shows the instance as running. If the official status page lists an incident for that region, wait for the update there; otherwise, test from another network and confirm your firewall allows outbound SSH.

OSS keeps returning access denied or signature mismatch errors. What should I check?
An access denied response usually points to a RAM policy, a bucket policy, an expired signed URL, or a missing permission. Check the AccessKey and secret, then compare your system clock with the one Alibaba Cloud expects; a small time drift can break request signatures. The help centre has the exact rules for bucket permissions and signed URL expiry, so use that page before you rotate keys.

My Alibaba Cloud payment or renewal failed. What should I check?
A failed order often traces to a declined card or an expired Alipay authorization. Open the Billing section in the console and check the payment method status, then try the order again if the method is active. If the charge clears but the resource stays locked, check the help centre and have your order number ready when you contact support.
