How to fix Venice not working

If both look normal, the fault is probably closer to you.
Hard refresh and switch models
A reply that hangs or a spinner that never finishes often clears with a hard refresh: Ctrl+Shift+R on Windows and Linux, Cmd+Shift+R on a Mac. If prompts keep failing, pick a different model from the model selector in the chat and send the same prompt again, because one model can be overloaded while the others answer fine. Short prompts make this quicker to test.
Turn off blockers and your VPN
Ad blockers and strict privacy extensions can stop the web app from loading responses, so open the site in a private window with extensions disabled and try again. Do the same with your VPN off. Your past chats won't show up in that window, because Venice saves conversations in your own browser's local storage.
Clear site data and sign in again

Venice is a privacy-focused AI platform that runs open-source models for text chat and image generation, and it keeps your conversation history in your browser instead of on its servers. Developers who call its API and people who want a private alternative to mainstream chatbots both depend on it, so an outage stalls replies mid-conversation and leaves image jobs stuck.

Most incidents are partial. Text replies tend to break first: the response stops halfway or never starts, you get a generic error asking you to try again, and API requests often time out around the same time, though a different model in the selector may still answer. Image generation can fail on its own, with pictures that load forever or come back blank. Because your chat history lives in browser storage, old conversations stay visible during an outage, which can make the app look fine until you send a message.

Why does Venice say I've reached my daily limit?

Free accounts have a daily cap on prompts, and once you hit it the app stops sending messages until the limit resets. Signing out won't reset it. If you already pay and still see the message, check your account settings to confirm the subscription belongs to the login you're using, because a second email or wallet sign-in is easy to create by mistake.

Why do Venice images fail when text chat works?

Image generation runs on different models from chat, so one can slow down or return errors while the other is fine. Pick another image model from the model selector and retry. If several image models fail in a row, check the official status page, since that points to a wider problem than your prompt.

Why is my Venice API key getting rejected?

Calls fail when the key has been revoked or was pasted with a stray space or line break. Generate a new key in the API section of your account settings and swap it in. If the key is valid and requests still fail, read the error text: a model name that no longer exists or an empty API balance returns a different message from a bad key.
