How to fix FiveM not working

FiveM is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Your browser tries to reach fivem.net over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

Close GTA5.exe and relaunch as administrator
Open Task Manager with Ctrl + Shift + Esc and end GTA5.exe and FiveM so a stuck process stops blocking your next launch attempt here. Use Run as administrator.
Verify GTA V files in Steam
In Steam go to Library and right-click Grand Theft Auto V, then pick Properties and Installed Files and click Verify integrity of game files because damaged files block loading. Restart after you verify.
Allow FiveM through Windows Firewall
Your firewall blocks the client after an update, so open Windows Security and use Firewall and network protection then Allow an app through firewall to tick FiveM. Test one favorite server.
Delete cache and reinstall clean
When launches still fail, uninstall the app from Settings then Apps then Installed apps then restart, press Win + R and type %localappdata%\FiveM, and delete that folder so corrupt data stops breaking it. You reinstall and test.

While FiveM is down: what to use instead

GTA Online If you mainly want to play with friends, GTA Online runs on Rockstar's own servers and can keep working while the FiveM side has trouble.
Direct connect from the F8 console When only the server browser fails to load, open the console with F8 and type connect followed by the address of a server you already know.
Your server's Discord Most roleplay communities post restarts and outages there, so you can tell fast whether one server is down or FiveM as a whole.
RAGE Multiplayer It is a separate GTA V multiplayer mod with its own launcher and servers, which helps if your group already plays there.

Fix FiveM on Windows, Mac, Android and iPhone

FiveM on Windows

Fix: Restart your FiveM client and ensure both Steam or Epic Games and GTA V are updated to the latest version. If issues persist, try clearing the 'cache' folder inside your FiveM Application Data directory.
Check: Check the official FiveM status page or monitor the server list in the client for connection timeout errors.

FiveM on Mac

Fix: FiveM does not natively support macOS, so you will need to run it through a Windows partition using Boot Camp or a virtual machine. Ensure your Windows environment has Grand Theft Auto V installed and updated.
Check: Since the game client cannot run natively on macOS, check if FiveM is down by visiting the official FiveM status website using your web browser.

FiveM on Android

Fix: FiveM is a PC-only modification for GTA V and is not available on Android. Avoid downloading unofficial APKs claiming to run FiveM on mobile devices.
Check: You can check if FiveM services are down by using your mobile web browser to visit the official FiveM status page or community forums.

FiveM on iPhone and iPad

Fix: FiveM is not compatible with iOS devices as it requires the PC version of Grand Theft Auto V. There is no official mobile app, so do not download third-party iOS apps claiming to offer the service.
Check: Use Safari to visit the official FiveM status tracker or check their official social media channels to see if the network is experiencing an outage.

What happens when FiveM goes down

FiveM mods GTA V. Roleplay communities and owners rely on it to host maps and cars, so when auth or the server list breaks you stay stuck at login.

When backend auth stumbles you hang at the loading screen while the client says it cannot verify your game. The server list empties. If your favorite server stays online you can still join by direct IP address because the list and the game traffic fail on separate paths. Outages hit some servers while others stay up, so Discord lights up before anything is fixed.

Is FiveM down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for the service are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. This site does not ping or monitor it, so that count comes from other people and not from a direct check. If the official Rockstar status page is listed above, check it for confirmed service incidents. To tell whether the problem is only on your side, try another internet connection, restart your router, open the Rockstar Games Launcher, and test a different server.

Why does FiveM show 'Failed to connect to server' when my internet works?

The server you picked may be offline or full, and it may reject connections from another region. A VPN can make that worse, so try a different server with the VPN off. If every server fails, update the FiveM client and check your firewall.

FiveM crashes on launch or says 'FiveM has stopped working' after an update. What can I try?

Verify the GTA V game files through the launcher you use, then restart your PC. Clear the app cache and remove any graphics mods or plugins you added recently. If it still crashes, run the app as administrator and update your GPU driver.

Does FiveM work on Mac or console?

FiveM is Windows only, so you need a PC copy of GTA V and a Windows installation. Mac and Linux are not supported by the client. Xbox and PlayStation versions of GTA V cannot install or launch it.

Why does FiveM ask me to sign in with a Cfx.re account?

You can join many public servers without a Cfx.re login, but some servers require their own whitelist or account. If you run a server, you need a Cfx.re account for Keymaster and the server listing. When the sign-in fails, reset your password and check that you can log in on another device.

How we track FiveM
