Troubleshooting

How to fix Apple Support not working

When Apple Support itself is having trouble, these steps won't bring it back, but they will rule out anything on your side:

Your browser tries to reach support.apple.com over your own connection, right now. Nothing is sent to us or stored.

  1. Relaunch the Apple Support app

Open the app switcher, swipe the Apple Support card up, then open the app again. If the screen stays blank or refuses taps, restart the iPhone and try once more.

  2. Check Wi-Fi and cellular data for Apple Support

Turn Wi-Fi off in Settings > Wi-Fi, load a web page over cellular, then turn Wi-Fi back on and load the same page. If the app fails only on one network, open Settings > Wi-Fi, tap the More Info button next to that network, then tap Forget This Network and join it again.

  3. Update iOS and the Apple Support app

Go to Settings > General > Software Update and install any offered update. Then open the App Store, tap your profile picture, and update Apple Support if it appears in the list.

  4. Reinstall the Apple Support app

Touch and hold the app icon, tap Remove App, then tap Delete App. Open the App Store, find Apple Support, and install it again.

While Apple Support is down: what to use instead

  • Support website Open the support website in a browser to start a chat or book a repair when the app will not load.
  • Phone support Call the phone line when the website will not open a chat and you need to talk through a problem with a person.
  • Support Communities Ask other owners in the community forums when you need a fix and the main support channel is unreachable.
  • Apple Store or repair provider Take the device to an Apple Store or an authorized service provider when you need hands-on help and the support app will not connect.
Same time

Problems at the same time as Apple Support

Since 27 October, Apple Support's only spike in problem reports overlapped a spike at another service.

When several services get problem reports at once, something they share, such as a cloud host or a network, can be the real cause. Matching times alone do not prove it.

A spike is a sharp rise in problem reports from users, as the live pages showed it. Times are Central European time.

About

What happens when Apple Support goes down

Apple Support is the app and website where you get help with Apple products, chat with an advisor, check coverage, and book a repair; iPhone and Mac owners rely on it when a device malfunctions or a repair needs scheduling, and an outage interrupts those support chats and repair bookings. The status at the top comes from user problem reports counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours, and the site does not ping or probe the service itself.

An outage often starts with slow page loads or the app failing to refresh case details, then live chat can stall while repair booking pages show empty appointment slots or fail at submit. You may still load coverage checks and troubleshooting guides without account data, so a partial failure is common. Reports can cluster by region or carrier because sign-in and store services depend on different back ends; one feature can break while the rest of the app works.

Questions

Apple Support FAQ

Is Apple Support down right now?

The status at the top of this page shows whether user problem reports for Apple Support are above their usual level, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. It does not ping or probe the service, so treat it as a report signal. If the support site or app fails only on your device, try another browser and a different network; a sign-in prompt that loops on one device but works on another points to a local cookie or account issue.

Why does the Apple Support app keep asking me to sign in again?

The app ties support chats and device details to your Apple ID, and a stale session or a date and time mismatch can make it drop that sign-in. Update the app and check that your device date is set automatically; then sign out of the app and sign back in. If the loop continues after a password reset, use the web support page from a private browser to see whether the problem follows the account or the app.

Why can't I book a Genius Bar appointment in the Apple Support app?

Appointment slots vary by store and region, and a store can show no open times even when the page loads fine. Pick a nearby store or check back later; the app also needs location access and the correct country setting to show the right reservation options. If you need service under warranty, confirm the device is signed in with the Apple ID that holds the coverage before you retry.

Why does the Apple Support site show no chat option for my iPhone?

Chat and call choices depend on the product and your region, so a missing chat button often means it is routing you to a different contact path. Sign in with the Apple ID used for the device and open the support page for that exact model; if the option appears there, the app or your saved country setting was the problem. If no option appears on either path, use the callback request form when it is offered.

Where did my AppleCare agreement go in Apple Support?

Agreements attach to the Apple ID used at purchase, and a family member or a retail purchase under another account can leave the coverage hidden from your view. Sign in with the Apple ID tied to the device and check the coverage page for the serial number; add proof of purchase only if that page asks for it. If the device came second-hand, the previous owner must remove activation lock before coverage and support options appear correctly.

How we track Apple Support

The status on this page comes from user-submitted problem reports for Apple Support, counted in 15-minute windows over the last 24 hours. Each window is compared with the normal level for Apple Support, so a few complaints on a quiet day don't trigger anything, but a sudden jump well above normal does.

When reports climb well above normal, the status here changes to partial outage or major outage and the chart moves with it. Apple Support doesn't publish a public status page that we know of, so user reports are often the quickest sign that something is wrong on their side.
