How to fix Tinder not working

Tinder is up on our end, so if it won't work for you, the problem is most likely on your side. Work through these in order:

Force quit and reopen Tinder
Close the app from your phone's app switcher: on iPhone, swipe up from the bottom and flick the Tinder card away; on Android, open Recents and swipe the card off screen. Wait a few seconds, then tap the icon to launch it again. This clears a stuck screen without touching your account.
Check Tinder connection
Open Control Center on iPhone or swipe down the notification shade on Android, then turn Airplane Mode on for ten seconds and off. If you use Wi-Fi, switch to mobile data or join a different network to rule out a dead router. A weak connection often blocks the swipe deck and message sending.
Update Tinder from your store
On iPhone, open the App Store and tap your profile icon to reach Available Updates, where you can tap Update next to the app. On Android, open Google Play and tap Update all or select the app under Manage apps and device. An old build can fail on login or photo upload.

What happens when Tinder goes down

Tinder is a dating app where people swipe through profiles and chat after a match. An outage interrupts those matches and conversations, leaving you stuck on a loading screen or unable to sign in when you want to meet someone.

Login often goes first: the app spins, then it either shows a generic error or returns you to the phone number screen. Once you are in, the swipe deck may stay blank, matches can vanish from your list, messages either will not send or sit in a sending state, and photo uploads may stall. Profile edits and settings changes tend to fail too, so your changes do not save. The trouble is often partial, hitting one region or one platform while other people keep swiping and chatting.

Why does Tinder say "Something went wrong. Please try again later." when I open a match?

That message is the app's catch-all for a request that failed, often when your connection drops mid-load or the service cannot reach your account data. Force close the app, then open the same match again after switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data. If the error follows you on both networks, check the help centre before you delete anything.

Why was my Tinder purchase charged but my subscription is still missing?

Apple and Google handle app store charges, and a delayed receipt can leave the subscription inactive for a short time. Confirm the order in the store's purchase history, then restore purchases inside the app. If the store shows no order, the charge may be a pending hold from your bank.

Why does Tinder keep showing me people from another city?

The app uses your phone's location permission and its own location settings, so a stale GPS signal or a Passport setting can move your profile to another city.
