EA app won't open

App closes or freezes on startup

The EA app doesn't start, closes after a few seconds or hangs on a blank window. EA says background programs and security software often cause crashes and connection trouble.

Is EA down right now? Operational: 9 problem reports in the last hour. If it were down for everyone, this problem could come from there; right now it looks normal.
Fix it

How to fix it

  1. Close background programs you don't need, such as file sharing apps.

  2. Add EADesktop.exe, EALauncher.exe and EABackgroundService.exe from the EA Desktop folder to your antivirus and firewall exceptions.

  3. If it still fails, disable or temporarily uninstall your antivirus or firewall to test.

  4. Restart your computer and open the EA app again.
