Common problemSteamSteam client on Windows and Mac
Steam won't open or keeps crashing
Damaged install or software getting in the way
Valve says client crashes can come from the Steam install itself or from other software, drivers or hardware on the computer. Some crashes are Steam bugs that get fixed in client updates.
How to fix it
Restart Steam and your computer.
Download the Steam installer and reinstall to the same folder, which keeps your games.
Unplug input devices you don't need, such as extra controllers.
Update your operating system and drivers.
Check antivirus, firewall and other background tools, and add exceptions for Steam if needed.
