Install the latest version from the App Store or Google Play. Old versions can stop connecting after a server-side change.

- E-Trade phone line Call the broker line if you need a rep to check an order or account balance, and skip chat when queues are long.
- Fidelity If you already have an account there, use its app or site to place a trade or check a quote while this service is unavailable.
- Charles Schwab Log in through its website to place an order or move cash if you already hold an account there and cannot reach the app.
