Norton VPN is a subscription VPN app for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS. It encrypts your connection and lets you pick a virtual location, so remote workers and travelers depend on it; an outage interrupts secure browsing and whatever protected session you had open.

Connection attempts fail first. The app may sit on its connecting screen or show a connection error while your regular internet keeps working, which makes the problem look like a DNS or Wi-Fi issue at first. My Norton VPN app is stuck on Connecting and never finishes. What can I do?

That usually means the app reached the network but the tunnel never came up, so kill it from the task switcher or the tray and open it again, then toggle airplane mode for a few seconds to force a fresh handshake. Another VPN running at the same time will fight it for the same connection, so turn that off first. If you are on hotel, campus or office Wi-Fi, that network may block VPN traffic outright; mobile data is the quickest way to find out.

It says Norton VPN is connected but pages time out and nothing loads.

The Kill Switch is a common culprit: if the tunnel dropped earlier, it keeps blocking traffic until the app reconnects, so open the app, disconnect, and connect again. Split tunneling can leave one browser or app outside the tunnel while everything else works. Test a plain page such as a search engine; if that loads and one site does not, blame the site. If nothing loads at all, disconnect the VPN and see whether the internet comes back, which points to the tunnel rather than your line.

I signed in to Norton VPN on a new phone and it says my subscription is not active.

Your subscription is tied to the Norton account you bought it with, so a second email address looks empty even though you paid. Open the app menu, check which account is signed in, and sign out and back in with the address on your order confirmation. If the plan covers fewer devices than you are using, remove an old phone from your account before adding this one. The help centre at https://support.norton.com can look the account up for you.

Netflix and iPlayer refuse to play while the VPN is on. Is that an outage?

No, and it is not what the counter at the top of this page measures. Streaming services block known VPN addresses on purpose and they refresh those lists often, so one server location can fail while another works fine. Pick a different location and try again. An outage looks different: the app will not connect at all, or it drops the tunnel every few minutes.
