Instagram account hacked
Someone else changed your login details
Someone got into the account and may have changed the email, phone number or password. Instagram offers a login link, a security code request and an identity check to get it back.
How to fix it
Look for an email from [email protected] about a changed email address and tap secure my account in it.
On the login screen, tap Forgot password? and request a login link to your email or phone.
If the link does not work, request support from Instagram on a mobile device and give an email address only you can reach.
Complete the identity check Instagram sends you, which can include a short video selfie.
Once back in, change your password, turn on two-factor authentication and remove apps or linked accounts you do not recognize.
From Instagram's help pages: help.instagram.com, in our words. Checked on 5 November 2026. If the steps do not help, Instagram's own support is the next stop.
