YouTube videos won't load

Endless spinning wheel or a blank player

The video page opens but playback never starts or keeps buffering. YouTube's fixes target a slow connection, an old app or browser, and browser extensions.

Is YouTube down right now? Partial outage: 302 problem reports in the last hour. Many people are having trouble, so this problem may come from YouTube's side: waiting can be enough.
Fix it

How to fix it

  1. Restart your internet connection and run a speed test.

  2. Lower the video quality if your connection is slow.

  3. Close the YouTube app or restart your device.

  4. Update the YouTube app or your browser, or clear the browser cache and cookies.

  5. Open YouTube in an incognito window with all extensions turned off to see if one of them is the cause.

  6. On a smart TV, unplug the TV or streaming device for at least 30 seconds, then plug it back in.
