What happens when TuneIn goes down

TuneIn streams live radio and sports play-by-play, and it carries podcasts across its website and mobile apps. Many people keep it on for background listening at home and in the car, so an outage interrupts a station that will not start, a podcast episode that stalls, saved stations that fail to load, or game audio that cuts out.

Playback tends to fail first: you tap a station or a live game, the app shows a loading spinner, and then it either times out or says the stream is unavailable. Podcasts may keep working if they are downloaded, but on-demand episodes that need to stream can stall or refuse to start. Search and saved stations can also go blank or return an error while the rest of the app opens. Is TuneIn down right now?

Why does TuneIn say a station is not available in my area?

Regional rights are the usual cause. Many live radio streams and sports broadcasts can play in one country and fail in another. Turn off any VPN and try again, because the app may see the VPN location instead of your real one. Sports blackouts can block a game even when the rest of the app works.

Why does TuneIn stop playing after a few minutes on CarPlay or Android Auto?

CarPlay and Android Auto hand audio between the phone and the car head unit, so a weak cellular signal in the car can drop the stream while the phone still has bars. Test it in the phone app with the car disconnected. If it plays there, the cable or wireless link to the car is the weak point. Check Android battery settings too, since optimization can close the app in the background.

Why can't I sign in to TuneIn Premium after changing my password?

If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, the Premium access ties to that store account as well as your TuneIn password. Sign out of the app, sign back in with the same email or username you used before, and check the subscription in the store account you paid with. If the app still asks you to subscribe, the help centre can help with account and billing issues.

Why does TuneIn keep buffering on my smart speaker or Sonos?

Smart speakers and Sonos pull the stream over your home Wi-Fi, so a weak signal in one room can cause buffering while your phone plays fine on cellular. Move the speaker closer to the router or switch it to a 2.4 GHz network if your router separates bands. Try a different station next. If only one station buffers, that stream may be overloaded or limited to another region.
