Common problemMicrosoft OutlookOutlook.com on the web and in apps
Can't sign in to Outlook.com
Password, username or account access problems
Outlook.com will not accept your sign-in. Because it uses your Microsoft account, Microsoft says a forgotten or changed password, a username it no longer recognizes, or an account closed after more than two years without use can all block you.
How to fix it
Run the Microsoft Sign-in Helper and enter the email address or phone number you sign in with.
If you forgot your password, reset it through the password reset steps.
If your known password stopped working, use the Sign-in Helper to recover the account.
If you can't get verification codes, follow Microsoft's steps for code problems.
If you have not signed in for over two years, check whether the account was closed.
From Microsoft Outlook's help pages: support.microsoft.com, in our words. Checked on 5 November 2026. If the steps do not help, Microsoft Outlook's own support is the next stop.
