Brightspeed WiFi keeps disconnecting

Modem needs a restart or is overheating

The connection drops on one or more devices. Brightspeed points to a modem that needs a restart, too much distance from the modem, or a modem that is running hot. If only one device drops, that device may need an update.

Is Brightspeed down right now? Partial outage: 49 problem reports in the last hour. Many people are having trouble, so this problem may come from Brightspeed's side: waiting can be enough.
Fix it

How to fix it

  1. Unplug the modem for 30 seconds, plug it back in and wait for a solid green Internet light.

  2. Restart the device that keeps dropping.

  3. Move closer to the modem and test again.

  4. Make sure the modem is not hot and has open space around it.

  5. If only one device drops, install its latest software update.
