Common problemBrightspeedTower-style modems
Brightspeed modem shows a red light
Modem can't reach or log in to the network
On Brightspeed tower modems, a red DSL light means the modem can't find the network, and a red Internet light means the network did not accept the modem's login details. A power light that stays red can point to a hardware fault.
How to fix it
Turn the modem off, unplug it, wait 30 seconds, then plug it in and turn it on.
Check the modem is set up correctly and connected to an active phone jack, and try another jack if you have one.
For a red Internet light, open http://192.168.0.1, sign in with the admin details on the modem label and run Quick Set-up.
If that fails, hold the reset button for 10 seconds and go through Brightspeed activation again.
Contact Brightspeed technical support if the light stays red.
