Fortnite: "Matchmaking error #1 / #2 / #3"

Can't get into a match

Appears when queueing for Battle Royale, Creative or a tournament, mostly because of server maintenance or connection trouble. Error #3 means the buses are full, and one form of #2 means you don't meet a competitive event's requirements.

Is Fortnite down right now? Operational: 18 problem reports in the last hour. If it were down for everyone, this error could come from there; right now it looks normal.

How to fix "Matchmaking error #1 / #2 / #3"

Check the Fortnite status page; if matchmaking is down, wait and try later.
If nothing is down, run Epic's connection troubleshooting steps.
Set your primary display video card and turn off background apps.
If the message says you're not eligible, read Epic's article on joining tournaments.
If it keeps happening, file an in-game bug report.
